Razstava Babičina pojedina je avtoričin največji dosedanji izziv, saj se fokus premakne z medija na obiskovalca. Razstava sama je medij, poglobitvena izkušnja, ki ga popelje v toplino babičinega doma. Site-specific instalacija vključuje tehnično dovršene elemente, od slik, plastik, zvoka in domačih slaščic, ki nosijo reminiscence na odraščanje v pravljičnem, domišljijsko bogatem in igrivem okolju. Razstava je prvi mejnik v razvoju magistrskega projekta, ki ga umetnica razvija pod mentorstvom doc. mag. Maje Smrekar in prof. mag. Zore Stančič. Istočasno je zaključek tri mesečne rezidence v ateljeju galerije DobraVaga, kjer je umetnica gnetla, preizkušala in finiširala svoje ideje.

Polona Pečan je na Akademiji za likovno umetnost in oblikovanje v Ljubljani diplomirala iz slikarstva/grafike, pri doc. mag. Zori Stančič in doc. dr. Tomu Staniču, ter za svojo diplomsko nalogo Neprekinjeno hrumenje strojev prejela Prešernovo pohvalo.
Pogosto razstavlja v domačem in tujem galerijskem prostoru in je prejemnica častne nagrade za razvoj svetovne grafične umetnosti na Mednarodnem grafičnem trienalu Bitola (2021). Je članica ZDSLU in DLUL in poleg svojega umetniškega ustvarjanja dela v SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana.

ARTIST PER MONTH⏐Polona Pečan: Grandma’s Feast

The exhibition Grandma’s Feast is the artist’s greatest challenge to date, as the focus shifts from the medium to the visitor. The exhibition itself becomes the medium, an immersive experience that transports the visitor into the warmth of a grandmother’s home. This site-specific installation incorporates technically refined elements, including paintings, sculptures, sound, and homemade sweets, evoking reminiscences of growing up in a fairytale-like, imaginatively rich, and playful environment. The exhibition marks the first milestone in the development of the artist’s master’s project, which she is developing under the mentorship of Asst. Prof. Maja Smrekar and Assoc. Prof. Zora Stančič (MA). At the same time, it concludes a three-month residency in the studio of the DobraVaga gallery, where the artist shaped, tested, and refined her ideas.

Polona Pečan graduated in painting/printmaking from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Zora Stančič (MA) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tomo Stanič. She received the Prešeren commendation for her thesis The Continual Whirr of Machines. She frequently exhibits in both local and international gallery spaces and was awarded the honorary prize for the development of global printmaking at the International Graphic Triennial Bitola (2021). She is a member of the Slovenian Association of Fine Arts Societies and the Ljubljana Fine Artists Society. In addition to her artistic practice, she works at the Ljubljana Slovene National Theatre Opera and Ballet.
